The Old Hatfield Pickle Co attends Hatfield Farmers’ Market regularly. The photographs below were taken at the Farmers’ market which is held on the first Saturday of month.

A bright but crisp day brought out many of the Hatfield Farmers’ Market regulars although there were many new faces amongst the crowd looking for ideas for Christmas Stocking fillers. Many orders were taken to picked up during December.

We introduced several new mustards for the first time. Each of the them comes with a tot of a different tipple. whisky, Rum and Brandy. The fourth which will be mature enough to bottle for December’s market is liberally laced with Port. Should go nicely with cheese and biscuits over the festive season.

All in all, a brisk day’s trading at the market interspersed with several cups of hot tea and the occasional bacon sandwich from Errol’s cafe to keep the chill at bay when the sun went in!

Our customers at the Farmers’ market have a very wide range of tastes which we try to cater for. It ranges from traditional chutneys to the hottest of chilli sauces. Our range of mustards always go down well and even though we say it ourselves, they are rather special.

What always surprises us are requests for products we don’t normally make. Just give us a little time and we will probably add it to our range if there is enough demand and we can source the raw food produce locally.

Good news is that Horseradish is now in season so look out for our unique horseradish sauce. If you like it hot, this will definitely be to your taste!

Other new products being planned are several vinaigrettes with exciting new tastes that can also be used as pasta sauces.

Although the photographs don’t really show it, the Farmer’s market was well attended and quite busy throughout the day. We definitely needed the assistance of our two new additions to our staff.

Star of the show was our new lady assistant who greeted everyone with a great sunny smile.

Running a close second was Jamie, our intrepid photographer and chief plastic bag handler. He’s the young chap on the right holding a white plastic bag in the photograph called ‘What do I do with this?’
